"duplicate" meaning "exact copy of"

"content" meaning "what is within"

Because search engines only want to show the BEST information to their users.

In so simple words Duplicate content is when you have an exact replica of a site or page. With hundreds of millions of pages currently on the Web, it is inevitable to have pieces of content that are significantly similar to other online content.

Google puts quality ahead of duplicate content, and I don't think they qualify republishes as duplicate content. Google hasn't been clear on duplicate content, but they are more likely to give your site credit for articles you have that were republished by other websites, than you posting the same article on all article directories.

Hello, i am newbie in this forum. Duplicate means the copy of that. Anyone website which is first crawled by google and if its content is copied exactly same by another website then it is claimed for copy content in google by the first person. And this can be one of the reasons why your ranking can decrease.

Duplicate contents are content that comes into view on the web in excess of one place. This is a trouble since when there are too much one piece of matching content on the web, it is hard for search-engines to choose which version is more significant to a given search-query.
