It’s actually very naive to think that Google is going to do something about these kind of links anytime in the near future. After all, how long has blog comment spam been around? Long as I’ve been online, that’s for sure.
And with ridiculous features like Instant, I think it’s easy to see where Google is placing most of its interests.
It’s also naive to think that just because these kind use manipulative links that they are going to one day drop from the SERPS. In fact, they stand a great chance of sticking around. With the boost you get from forum profiles and blog comments, you position yourself in a much more likely place to receive editorial backlinks.
And when Google does find a way to devalue forum profile backlinks, do you really think there won’t be another way to manipulate the system? It’s a cat and mouse game with them and no matter what kind of algorithm they implement, people will find a way to work it.
