First of all, you won't get a laptop that you won't have to spend a few hours configuring (most of which is removing all the crap a laptop comes with). So you can get that idea out of your head right now...it'll kill you otherwise.

Second, it really depends on your budget. You can buy a decent laptop for $600 CDN around here (Toronto).

My best suggestion would be to look at the refurbished (RB) market. There are a lot of perfectly good manufacturer-reconditioned laptops that often outperform new ones.

HP Mini 110 packs all the essential technologies that you need, anywhere. It's features include Genuine Windows 7 Starter, fast, easy, reliable, web browsing with Internet Explorer on Windows, an Intel Atom N455 processor ‡ with energy-efficient performance upgrade or dual-core Atom N570, the choice of black ( standard) blue, peaceful, or Sonoma Red, 10.1 "diagonal LED, 1 GB of system memory, which would be expandable to 2 GB, 250GB hard drive for storing photos and music, or go to 320, three USB ports, integrated Wireless-N for the wireless range of a Bluetooth access point and the starting price in the range of $ 280.
